Relais Montefalco is a family runned hotel of 15 rooms standing outside the city walls of Montefalco(close to Assisi and Spoleto) and surrounded by a century-old tree park. The medio-eval town of Montefalco is known for its Sagrantino wine and the frescoes by Gozzoli and Perugino in San Francis Museum. The Relais is a Villa completely restored in 1989 to be converted into an hotel It is still furnished with all old pieces keeping the same atmoshere of the early 1900 when it was used by the previous owners Count Silenci as a” house for paying guests”. All the rooms are different and modernly equipped and some of them have a wonderfull view over the valley from Perugia to Spoleto. The Hotel was open in 1992 and since then it hosted many famous people from all over the world. The food ,enhanced by the taste of the extra virgin olive oil produced in the family’s farm,is created with local ingredients and accompained by the superb Montefalco Rosso or Sagrantino,as the Relais Montefalco is right in the heart of production of these 2 wines. Cooking classes are held on request in the restaurant kitchen to learn the secrets of the Umbrian cousine and lot’s of articles have been published about them in American,Australian and European magazines, among which the most important is the News Week.
